An Explaination

Filed under: blog stuff — Kari @ 5:55 PM

I’m sure nobody still reads this, but I felt like I needed to write something…so I am.

1. Why did you stop?

Because, unfortunately, sending every picture one by one to a hard drive is a pain in the butt. On top of that, then getting it onto an SD card, getting that up on the computer, uploading, and etc. was just a pain in the butt. I ADORE LBP and really want a place to put my photos, but I hate the lack of convenience of doing so.

On top of that, LBP is a game that’s much funner to play with -friends-. I rarely catch any of the people on my friend’s list on the Playstation and thus, usually end up playing LBP with my boyfriend (Who goes by Max on here :P )–unfortunately, we actually have a long distance relationship which means he’s here back and fourth. He is actually moving up here this month, but it’s been a long time coming.

2. So, do you still play?

Yes! I do. I love to play and I’m always looking for more people to play with. Feel free to add me: PSN: rini124

3. Did you hear about LBP2?

YES! I’m super excited! Especially as our Sack Person essentially gets brought over.

4. why don’t you have any trophies if you 100%’d everything like you said?

I had been playing on my dad’s PS3 before I got my own. I was almost done with the game and thus, just copied my data. …I learned why that was a bad idea the hard way :/

5. What DLC are you missing?

The Crown because I have no talent, the Week 1 T-shirt because the US never got it, the Bug Crusher Beta Test Outfit as every bug I found someone reported first and I’m really shy so I have trouble posting on forums, annnd at the moment, the Star Cap as I’m waiting for the code. That’s it.

6. Do you think you’ll ever start this blog up again?

I’d REALLY like to as it’s actually a lot of fun–I just need a better way to get photos up first.

But yes, that is all~

^_^

Well, busy-ness has struck up again for a while–I can’t list specifics yet, simply because I’m not sure if I can, but once I know, I’ll update this entry.

Anyway, I set up a new plug-in that should hopefully make things a bit more alive and a bit easier too :3

Free time returns!

Filed under: blog stuff — Kari @ 4:23 PM

Yep. I finally have some free time to start playing levels again :D So, what have I been up to these last few days?

I got a job….I’ve been working on making my own level (I hope you guys will try it out when I finish!)…and some other random stuff you guys probably won’t care about :P

Anyway, I’ll be working on transferring all the photos off my PS3 to my SD Card and then get those uploaded to Flickr tonight or tomorrow. ^_^ Then, it shall be back to level playing!

Also, a big thank you and shout out to Covertaction for making my actual car (A Pink VW Beetle) on LBP! It’s just so awesome! :D Expect to see a picture with it on Flickr! <3

New DLC today!

Filed under: Costumes, DLC — Kari @ 6:27 PM

I hope everybody has had a chance to check it out :D The Nariko package is now out along with the new creator package!

For those who don’t make levels (like me), I HIGHLY encourage you to get the free packets anyway. The tutorial levels are wonderful and the music is beautiful so be sure to check it out!

Time to play some levels >3 …or not :(

Filed under: level discussion — Kari @ 2:34 PM

Well, I’m going through withdrawls right now so as to quickly get everything up, no photos yet again, however, I promise I wll get all the pictures from this and the last few entries up later today or tomorrow. So on that note, let’s begin!

Sadly, despite the above, I didn’t get to play long. Had to do a bunch of things and there’s just a lot going on with my family and my life right now and I haven’t had any time to play at all and it really sucks T___T I’m hoping I’ll have more time soon and when I do, I can make more entries about every other day or so. I just need everything to calm down first :/ So bleh.

I’d like to thank everyone who has visited ^_^ And commented. I really appreciate it and I always respond to all comments (sadly, there is no notification so my replies may be a bit late, but I promise, I do reply so be sure to check back!). If you ever want or need an immediate response, use our contact form as that’ll go straight to my e-mail which I check very often. Anyway, here’s a few of the levels I managed to get done and hopefully everything will be back up to date soon <3

1. Temple of the Eye by Zepofled (Part 1 and 2) – The level starts off with a very nice and convincing boat at the dock. However, the niceness does quickly get overlooked when you actually begin to play as this level is -hard-. Quicksand traps you can’t see that you have to try and figure out where they are and how big… it’s really a lot harder than you think–luckily, the level creator does give a double check point so you should be able to figure it out before you completely die. Over all, both levels are nicely made and while VERY challenging, the creator made sure to keep it pretty do-able and not a constant “I need to restart AGAIN” frustrating, so kudos to that. Still, some things get frustrating (like the constant plainshifting into the lit candles or random twists that kill you when you’re almost done) and other parts can be ridiculously mean, but it’s still a fairly good level. If you get annoyed easily though, I wouldn’t recommend it.

2. Trouble in the Ant Kingdom by Joeybaggad – This level is really great. Fantastically made, everything works well, and it’s fun. However, the fire-swinging-dome part is incredibly hard and one mistake later could possibly mess you up if you have to start all over. The main issue is with the “boss” at the end–if you finish, his paws may stop in a way that makes it impossible to get passed :/

3. Well, instead of giving you a summary of each of Rayvolution’s levels that I haven’t played yet…Just go play. They’re awesome and well thought out. I have yet to find one that hasn’t been a “OMGAWESOMELEVEL” description XP

Haven’t written in a while…

Filed under: blog stuff — Kari @ 11:19 AM

I guess you can say I haven’t had time, haven’t felt up to it, and many other things. I still feel sort of blahish, but I really feel like I should play so I’m giving it a shot. I have lots of levels on my to-do list after all @-@ This entry won’t feature any pictures as I don’t have time, but the pictures will be on Flickr ASAP. Also, a Belated Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone :3 I hope everybody managed to get the Leprechaun costume from the store. ^_^

Anyway, I’ll stop rambling as nobody wants to hear me talk and get on with the levels :P

1. Capestormin’ by Prawn1 – Well, you start off with bombing a jail…I’m guessing it’s a jail anyway due to the sign. Moving on, if you try to get the points under it after, there is a chance you’ll end up stuck or dead…the latter being more frustrating IMO. Then, you go up a hill on a jetpack…and have to jump over spikes while hoping you don’t accidentally jump into an electrocuting cloud in the process. Then there’s an ice puzzle which could leave you stuck there or repeatedly killing yourself… But once you manage to get through and not fall into holes due to the angle, it’s just a short way until the end. It’s just…really weird to be honest. I can’t really think of anything to say. It’s not exactly what I think of when I think of a “Trip to Cape Town” and is mostly just random obstacles strung together.

2. Robot Disco Invasion Pt.1 by Foofax – Not really a bad level…it was made nicely and all, but there’s so many glitches that it can get pretty frustrating. Things are made a bit harder than they should be and some other things are just a mess. Not to mention if one part ends up glitching, you’re pretty much screwed over as you can’t progress any further then.

3. Stunt Show – Loopity Loop by Madzilla – A pretty unique level, as long as you manage to not die in the wheel. Despite some counter measures in case you do, it’ll only help if the wheel hasn’t moved too far away on the second obstacle. I was really looking forward to more than just two obstacles though, so the level felt pretty short to me.

4. Little Big Africa by Madzilla – A cute and fairly awesome level. A safari where you go along taking photos :3 It’d be nice if the photo ops got you in with the animals at times you actually “took’ the photo, but it makes sense that you’re not.

5. Husky Run by Madzilla – A cute level, but some glitches made it pretty frustrating at parts.

6. Trial Grounds/The Climb by Riokogen – A series of challenge levels which actually have level part to them so it’s not like you’re just doing some obstacles all day :3 It’s well-made and things work quite well. The second one sadly has a lot of glitches though :/

So yes, that’s all for today. A small amount sadly (not feeling too well), but I’ll try and do more tomorrow. And as a quick notice, if you want me to play your levels, please just say so bluntly (and nicely T~T). I’m pretty dense and chances are if you beat around the bush, I won’t even realize you’re asking. So yes, your best bet is to just ask opening or use our cute little Contact Form on the contact page :3 <3

Also, there is now a donation button on the sidebar as my parents asked me to v__v Evil 40 dollar a month domain… T__T But yes, no need to donate, it’s not a pay for site, but any help would be appreciated~

DLC + Some quick recommended Levels + A Congrats

Filed under: Costumes, blog stuff, level discussion — Kari @ 4:04 PM

Well, I didn’t make this JUST for levels…okay, I kind of did, for pretty much photos and things, but the point is, I really enjoy LBP so why not talk about other aspects for now? For example…the new DLC.

March 12th/March 17th – St Patrick’s Day Leprechaun costume :D It’s super cute and looks like there’s several parts which is always nice for mixing and matching. I just wish it came with some like…pot of gold handheld thing or or a holdable shamrock or some rainbow back piece or something. I know several people have wanted a bigger top hat. It’s too bad people in the US (like me T__T) will be waiting until the 17th (which, at the time of this post actually going up, is tomorrow, but I did write this on the 13th) for this costume :/ At least it should stay longer than the 19th in that case.

March 19th – I don’t really care for Killzone 2, or Killzone in general, but the costumes at least look neat. I’m mostly just depressed about no level pack, I know it was hinted a bit so I was looking forward to that. Even though I have no opinion on anything Killzone, I would just love some more official levels to play.

March 26th – Buzz! I’ve never actually heard of what he’s from until now, but I adore the glasses and suit.

April 2nd – Patapon :3 I’ve never played this either. But moving on, I know a lot of people had asked for a blacker skin and I’m sure most people will be happy for more weapons too.

April 9th – Heavenly Sword pack. It’s a bit depressing that you have to rebuy Nariko if you already have her to get the other things, but the price isn’t too bad at least.

April 16th – Monkey! I’m not big on making myself into a monkey, but I love all the other things it comes with.

I just have to wonder where the free Bee Costume is…and Sephiroth. Even if I dislike Sephiroth for killing my favorite character EVER T__T (pleasegiveheracostumepleasepleaseplease). Ahem… but yes, that ends DLC discussion.

Anyway, onto a different discussion. I was recommended some levels, so here they are:

1. Happy Holidays Little Big Planet by Esperado – Wow. This level is just awesome. The effects are wonderful making a really beautiful winter scene. There’s also lots of different puzzles, some mandatory and some optional. It’s just really great.

2. Journey to the Center of Sackboy by MRH3R0MAN24 (note: the 0 may actually be an O) – A fairly unique level. It’s not as easy as you may think at first glance, and some parts can be tricky, but it’s a short level and just for it’s uniqueness, should be given a try.

3. Wheel of Points by MRH3R0MAN24 – The name says it all. Seriously.

In a different note, the LBL Contest Winners were announced! Congrats everyone :D I’m really excited that 3 out of my top 4 favorites (For those who forgot, my top 4 were the levels by: amazingflyingpoo, tin-cup-70, Rayvolution, and RedLace) did get mentioned (and one even won so yay) but really ^__^ Congrats to all!

So, that’s all for this entry ^_^ Not much level discussion, as I’ve been busy (and a little disheartened. A depressed sackgirl is not very adventurous). I meant to do more levels and include photos, but I figured I should get this up already. Sorry for talking so much T__T

At the very least, I’ll try and get the photos up on Flickr soon and possibly do some new levels as well.

And back to the To-Do List we go~

Filed under: level discussion, photos — Kari @ 8:57 AM

As a quick reminder, I will not be able to give a full review on levels that require multiple people (unless I decide to play with my sister), however, I will do my best~ Anyway, back to the list.

1. Little Big Shark Trouble by The_Better_Man – The level starts out pretty well. However, there is a chance that you could end up sliding off the cloud you’re supposed to land on into death which isn’t that fun. There’s also the fact that you really can’t see your surroundings so you’re jumping blindly a lot and have to hope you don’t die. And there’s still the fact that you can tend to roll off the clouds. Oh, and plainshifting off the rainbow isn’t fun either. However, the rainbow is beautifully constructed at the very least. The photo op. could have been placed better however, as unless you remember to jump over the boxes, you won’t see yourself at all. It’s not a bad level, fairly creative and things are made well, however, glitches mess it up a lot and it comes off as random in a bunch of places.

2. Abandon Starship! by Capt-Nixon – A really creative level that has very good mechanics. The level is incredibly realistic (and may give you a headache with how it maneuvers) and just works really well. I was impressed. Sadly, some glitches were bad enough that you had to restart the level as there’d be no way to get passed otherwise. And getting the…nitro thingy to turn around was annoying too.

3. Helena’s Tree House by jstanier – A cute level about climbing up a tree. There’s a few optional things you can do for the heck of it. However, some platforms are made a bit too high and you’ll need to do a bit of fancy work to get to them.

4. School of Sackboys by Predatorx9 – A simple level that takes your sackperson to school. There’s trivia and gym…and yeah. Of course, some parts are much harder than needed to be and can take a while :/

5. Community Photo Gallery! by MusterBuster – To put it simply, it served it’s purpose :P I think it’d have been nice if they also added the users in the pictures and where they were taken though.

A Request

Filed under: level discussion, photos — Kari @ 6:18 PM

Woo! We got our first request XD So yes, levels by wulongheyot ^_^

1. AIRBORNE – An insane minigame to say the least. I’ve been playing to try and get a photo airborne, but keep dying first >> Still, fairly awesome and does it’s purpose. At the very least, I got a photo doing nothing :D I’ll get one airborne. Eventually. I hope.

2. LITTLE BIG HORSE RACE! – This level is awesome. The horses are super realistic in their movements and it reminds me of one of my favorite carnival games. I just love it to death.

3. KING OF THE HILL! – At the moment, I can’t give a proper review because I currently have no playing buddy :( However, it looks quite nice and the level seems to function well.

4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY COOPER! – A cute level with a few puzzles and mechanisms. The baby to bottle part can be a bit hard (thank god it doesn’t need to be taken up the stairs) and sadly, it seems if you fall off the platform after that, it doesn’t return so you have to start over which is always unfortunate @-@ Still, a cute level at the least.

5. One for Sparta: The stolen SPE chips – I’d just like to point out that Sack girls who want to be Sack Woman can do this too. Anyway, everything in the level is beautiful. The house you start in is lovely, the horses are awesome, the lighting and setting is done incredibly well. The level also plays well which is nice and the challenges are fairly unique, though, can be very hard at times. Despite that, the level is done in a that while the challenges can be quite hard, you should be able to still get through them if you keep trying. However, there are a few glitches (getting stuck in the rubble for example if you fall down the hole that the star opens up) that can be disheartening near the Snake-star idol-thingy…I’m still trying to figure out how I somehow popped out of the top of the cave and had to start all over T__T

6. BEAST ARENA! – Wow. The arena is awesome. All the creatures are well done, each being more difficult than the last, and everything is just really nice. It’s a bit hard, especially if you tend to find ways to avoid killing things as much as possible like I do, but the level is wonderfully well-done and should be given a try.

7. HANG 10 SURFING CHALLENGE – A beautifully done minigame to say the least. While it’s a bit hard to hang onto your surf board, the surroundings are lovely enough for me to want to play again either way :P

8. OFFICIAL: LBP Fishing Challenge – One of the best fishing games I have played yet far on LBP. While the fishing rod is a bit hard to use at first, once you get used to it, it’s great. The special feature at the end is even more awesome besides the super neat fishing trip. Seriously, this level just baffles me because it’s so well done.

At the end, I decided to try AIRBORNE once more to see if I could actually get a photo, well, airborne…and I did! Woo! Yay me! XD Proof:

Back to the To-Do List!

Filed under: level discussion, photos — Kari @ 6:16 PM

Yep, finally back on our To-Do List so we’ll start on continuing #2 :3 :

1. Glassfun by Sole101 – A cute level made more or less completely out of glass. If you hate glass, like Max, you will probably get annoyed before the level even begins. The level is cute, could’ve used some more work,. but is still cute. There’s a few glitches that can cause completing a puzzle near impossible unless you restart the level which is a bit frustrating, but other than that, it’s worth a try as it shouldn’t take too long.

2. Not So Uncharted!! v.1.2 by Sole101 – I feel stupid saying this, but I could not figure out what to do. At all. The chained rock didn’t work, the water’s poison, there’s no way I can leap to the other rocks, and I don’t seem to have the switch trigger… :/ And I have everything T___T So yeah…if anybody knows what I’m doing wrong, let me know.

3. Big Yellow Baby by SHOCKWAVE321 – Not really what you’d expect by the name. You are pretty much told to do some challenges by a…well, big yellow baby. They’re fairly easy, though, the second was a bit annoying.

4. Big Yellow Baby 2 by SHOCKWAVE321 – Well, it seems the level is no completed…as there is a huge sign that says so. Not much different than the first, other than more challenges and the baby turning evil.

5. Lights by BROXY2000 – I was really starting to like this level. It was a switch from the usual light levels and was nicely done. However, then you come to a room with 5 switches, the 3rd switch that causes bombs to drop repeatedly. Nice. Real Nice. -___- And it was a good level too… .__.

6. theme park paintball by BROXY2000 – I kind of missed why it was called paint ball as other than shooting down a door (which you could use the ferris wheel to get over), there was just the optional shoot enemies part at the end. The skateboard ride was pretty neat and I really enjoyed the ferris wheel, but other than that, some things were a bit odd ^^;

7. Platformication by NINJACQUES – While not exactly what you’d expect from the name, it’s a fun level with lots of different platforms and puzzles.

8. The Forgotten Garden by smackdown321 – I actually played this level a little bit before, but decided to give it another try. It’s creative and done well, but then you get to a point which is ridiculously harder than it should be and most likely will leave you baffled once you “clear” it.

9. Sack to the Future 1, 2, and 3 by Hymanator – While none of the levels are super long, the effects are perfect and it represents the movies well.

10. Ice World Madness by Kebbe_90 – A creative level with several interesing methods to go through. Sadly, a lot of glitches can cause you to not be able to progress or kill you for no reason which gets really annoying.

11. A Boy and his Cube by yogh_wayne – This level as really nice, but I’m confused on how you get the cube completely through it as no matter what, it gets stuck at a checkpoint :/ It’s pretty depressing.

12. The Mysterious Caverns ft Paintinator by TiGAMiNX – Not a bad level, but the traps are hard to see and some are just plain spiteful :/
